Dr Jess Krul
Director & Lead Veterinarian
Dr. Jess comes from a unique mix of places. Born in France and raised on the beautiful tropical island of Réunion, she moved to Perth, Australia, to pursue her veterinary studies, followed by six years working in Far North Queensland and New South Wales. She brings a rich cultural background to everything she does.
In 2013, Dr. Jess and her husband, who is originally from Nelson, settled in the Motueka area with their two children. She is now proud to call the Tasman area Home!
With 14 years of experience in veterinary practice, Dr Jess is aiming to lead a veterinary team that combines professionalism with a warm, friendly approach, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care.

Jess Gardiner
Director & Lead Vet Nurse
With over 15 years in the veterinary industry, Jess brings extensive knowledge and leadership to Tasman Vets. She has spent 8 years in management roles, successfully overseeing clinic operations and guiding teams to provide exceptional care.
Jess is known for her friendly, approachable nature and practical, common-sense approach. She is passionate about fostering a positive team environment and creating a supportive, welcoming workplace for her staff. At the same time, she believes that client care is paramount and strives to make every client’s experience as positive and smooth as possible.
Having helped other clinics grow and manage their practices, Jess is now excited to embrace this new chapter with Tasman Vets.
Ashlyn Sutherland
Qualified Vet Nurse
Originally from New York, Ashlyn moved to New Zealand in 2020 with her partner. She graduated in 2023 from Te Pukenga/Otago Polytechnic, and received her Veterinary Nurse Diploma. Her animal family consists of two dogs, Benson and Pippa, and a one-eyed cat named Ralph. When she’s not taking her dogs on beach walks, you can find her weightlifting at the gym or training for her next half marathon.
Inari McKay
Qualified Vet Nurse
Inari completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Otago Polytechnic (2023–2024) and is continuing her studies part-time toward a Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing. Originally from Nelson, she brings enthusiasm for developing her clinical skills and supporting the Tasman Vets team. Outside of work and study, Inari enjoys netball, boating, fishing, and spending time with friends, family, and her beautiful cat, Sylveon.

Chloe Bartlett-Koen
Customer Services Team Leader
Chloe graduated as a Veterinary Nurse in 2012 and brings over 15 years of experience in the veterinary industry. Throughout her career, she has worked across many roles within the clinic, gaining a deep understanding of both animal care and client support.
What Chloe loves most about her work is building connections with people and their pets, and being able to support them through every stage of their journey together. Over time, she has discovered her true passion lies in customer service and front-of-house care, where she combines her knowledge of the industry with her friendly, approachable nature.
Outside of work, Chloe adores her own animals and can often be found exploring the outdoors with them on dog-walking adventures.
Fiona Lowe
Client Services Representative
Fiona is an experienced and welcoming face at Tasman Vets, supporting clients and their pets with her warm, professional, and approachable manner. She ensures every visit runs smoothly and helps clients feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door. Originally from Motueka, Fiona brings strong organisational skills, a genuine love of animals, and a true connection to the local community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and her large collection of fur babies.
Valerie Staley
Client Services Representative
Valerie is one of our friendly Customer Service Representatives at Tasman Vets. Originally from the UK, she has called New Zealand home for over 20 years and has spent the last 8 living in the beautiful Tasman region with her husband, Dan. A lifelong pet owner and animal lover, Valerie is passionate about ensuring our clients and their pets receive the very best service and support. At home, she shares life with a busy furry family — two large and loveable Newfoundlands, a princess Cocker Spaniel, a super chill Bichon Cross, and two very tolerant cats. Life is never dull, but always full of fun and fluffy love!
